On that date, every Ontario health care facility (and any associated health care provider) that submits Ontario Claim Forms 18, 21 and 23 directly to insurers in Ontario will be deemed a “Participating Provider” and will have to use the HCAI system to submit these forms.

“This marks the conclusion of a very successful journey for HCAI,” said Randy Bundus, Vice-President, Operations and General Counsel, IBC. “Since launching HCAI’s Remediation Program in January 2009, the system has met all of its operational milestones and promises greater efficiencies for all concerned moving forward. This is great news for health care providers, insurers and especially for Ontarians who’ve been injured in auto collisions.” 

 In 2010, HCAI successfully:

• Enrolled 100% of insurers (March).
• Completed its pilot program (April).
• Implemented HST changes (July).
• Implemented auto insurance reforms (September).
• Enrolled 100% of known Health Care Facilities (December).
• Enhanced its information website (www.hcaiinfo.ca) to provide role-based experience and e-learning tools.

Some HCAI statistics

As of December 2010:

• HCAI had 19,389 active users.
• 4,129 Health Care Facilities were using HCAI.
• 128 Ontario auto insurers were using HCAI.
• 1,345,165 Ontario Claims Forms were processed by HCAI.
• $524,393,164.59 in approved invoices were processed by HCAI.
